Default Lack of "scamming" option for report

yo,

so here's my story on what just happened
i was running CoF with some people, very nice folks we had fun and the run went without any problems
however, at the end two of the people were missing and as the rest thought i was getting scammed by those two people, nonetheless i got the end chest and went to the entrance of murakai's chamber to report them if they ran past me without paying
a teammate of mine, a very nice person was there too so while she stood at the chamber entrance i went for the two missing persons

and there they were, hiding in a corner for me
after i found them they immediatly started running for the chest so i had no choice but the report them fast before they left the game
unfortunatly because of not many options i reported both of them for botting and now i fear my account can be suspended for the report

opinions please

they really need to remove the whole has to be online and/or same dist thing. The reason they didnt add a scamming report option is b/c they dont really ban actively scammers. just one or two here and there to show that they are doing their job. Im pretty confident you wont get banned, if you do explain the situation to them,im sure they will be understanding.

i just don't want them to get away without a punishment
if they don't do anything against scammers it'll get out of control

While it's debatable whether run-scamming is a 'scam' or not (I say it is, under the 'waste of my time' category), I have to agree that Anet really stuffed up on the lack of of a scamming report feature.

I doubt though that you'll get a band for those reports though. I think 'abuse' counts as repeated false reports in a certain time frame and over a certain time frame. Support seems quite fickle over this though.

Scamming is generally your own fault. "oh noes they put 100g instead of 100plat and im an idiot for accepting" not Anets fault. "oh noes I ran people I dont know and trusted them even though I didnt know then for more than 30minutes" you own fault for trusting them. If you hate being scammed I would advise you stay away from MMOs, (Especially EVE Online) it happens to everyone at some point.

I think this sort of thing would fall in the same category as "not paying for runs" or runners scamming the players the are suppose to run, and Anet has already said that they don't take any action against this.

Running isn't supported by anet. Therefore people can scam you all they want and there's nothing you can do about it. It's at your own risk.

Running itself may not be supported, but I'm more concerned about the lack of 'Scamming' and 'EULA Violation' options in the quick-report option. I really don't want to have to track down (I currently don't know where it is) the long report route just to tell on some idiot who's trying to buy Runescape accounts.

Make them pay before you kill the boss - or have them die (vamp wep or whatever). I see you have a hero with you, so if you make them die and they want to scam you, just flag your hero far away so they won't res. Then you can leave, and they'll sit there and rot instead of ressing.

Scamming, as far as paying for a run or underpaying for items ect, is delt with on the "buyer/seller beware" scale.

In other words if you get scammed its your own fault and Anet will do nothing about it.

Think of it this way, you are not meant to be able to run any Mission, so by doing so you are cheating, in a sense. There is no rule that states, If I cheat for another player he must pay X fee for my servises.......so you can't complain if you get scammed in a run.

Oh. You can leave those people to the overly concerned carebears who take the time to submit support tickets at plaync.com with massive screenshot proof and fully detailed explanations.

I would just email the screenie to support. Explain what happened and hope for the best.

I can't imagine ANET doing anything against your account.

I personally think a Scam option is a great idea, it would help them pinpoint exactly where and where it happened. If they have time to look into bots and spammers and verbally abusive players.... they can surely look into scammers.

The reason they haven't added an option for scammers is that they need more detail than whats included in the /report. Scammers who refuse to pay for runs at leats get account marks which lead up to bans, and eventual termination of accounts. Read here for an official word: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_...porting_people And don't worry about getting banned for misusing /report, I've reported several hundreds of people/bots since it was added, and never had anything happen to me.

Friend found a nice way to prevent that.
Take a 4th of the cost before going for the chest if no one pays up, go afk.
They almost always crack or give up.

Anet shouldn't do anything about it.

How does Anet determine they are "scamming". You could have told them you would run them through CoF 4 times to pay for a mini you bought from them and YOU are the scammer...

There simply is really no way for them to tell.

The only real answer is to not do runs, or accept it as an unfortunate part of business like Wal-mart does with shoplifters.

The "what should Arenanet do with scammers" has been covered time and again in other threads. As this is the Q&A forum and not the discussion forum, closed.
